Including this Thursday there are 3 left. If you're unsure of a part on your song and need some help, write me below or let your teacher know so we can get it together. If you're still challenged playing the song, chart out the tune start to finish if you haven't already.
At the beginning of this Thursday we need to focus on:
1) Crazy On You
2) I Feel the Earth Move
Also need to work on:
3) Middle of the Road
4) Edge of Seventeen
5) Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
6) Hazy Shade of Winter
7) Cannonball
3/3/11 - 4th Reh - 9 left before shows!
Good 4th Rehearsal! Got through 10 Songs tonight...6 of those all the way through (Hazy Shade, One Way, If it Makes You Happy, Zombie, I Love R&R, Respect, and Our Lips are Sealed). Middle of the Road, Come to My Window, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun up to the Bridge - so learn the Bridge on these.
Guitar 1's - Learn your solos, be ready for them. Everyone else be ready to support those solos. Also be ready for the Bridge and Outros Soon:)
Want to get I Feel the Earth Move and Crazy on You moving next week. Be ready to review Barracuda, Edge of 17, Cannonball, and Bobby McGee and push those songs closer to being done.
You guys are doing a pretty good job - Keep listening to your songs 347 million times to familiarize.
2/24/11 - 3rd Reh - 10 left before the shows
Overall, I'd have to say that I enjoy working with this group! Though the attendance was lower than I expected, everyone there did an excellent job jumping in the fire and supporting your peers. Last night we got through 8 songs - RESPECT - complete song...nice! That's the next step: getting INTROs, BRIDGESs, SOLOs together to race to the end of your tunes.
I'd really like to work on things other than getting through the songs during the 3rd month. Stage Presence, Details within your parts, etc. So LISTEN TO YOUR SONGS 347 MILLION TIMES! Especially if there are any weird changes.
btw, the (#) at the beginning of sections on your songs refers to the amount of measures in that section. See you next week.
2/17/11 - 2nd Reh - 11 left before the shows
Good 2nd rehearsal. Once we've jammed through your songs, go home and work those Verses & Choruses into perfection, then be ready to try the INTRO & BRIDGE. Plan on running through the same songs again soon.
Keep listening to your songs!
Ran 7 Verse/Chorus combos: Bobby McGee, One Way or Another, I Love Rock N Roll, Our Lips are Sealed, Just a Girl, Respect, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.
Upcoming: Barracuda, Come to My Window, Edge of Seventeen, Middle of the Road, I Feel the Earth Move, Crazy on You.
2/11/11 - 1st Reh - 12 Left before the shows
Good start today! I'm psyched, didn't know what to expect, feeling lucky I have a solid group:) Bookmark & check back to this page frequently as I will be updating your songs. If you need info that's not there, let me know.
There are a million ways to learn songs, quickly is my favorite. Having 12 more Rehearsals, let's organize the order in which we put the parts together. We need to tackle these tunes as bands, if you can't figure out your parts on your own, have your teacher work them out with you.
1st Goal: Learn the Body of your songs -
(1) focus on the basic Verse, PreChorus & Chorus this week so we can move on to the
(2) Intro & Bridge, then we'll tidy up the
(3) Solos & Outros and whatever else is left.
I want these songs to "work" from start to finish (soon) so we can work on details. Listen to your songs 347 times. Know how many measures are in each part you learn.
Other Goals: Defining your part's rhythmic & melodic patterns, stage presence, band communication/interaction ... let's create a show that's both fun and exceptionally good because of its attention to details. So let's just start off painting some broad strokes.
Share with your teacher so we're all on the same page.
6 tunes: Hazy Shade of Winter, One Way or Another, If It Makes You Happy, Zombie, Cannonball, Our Lips are Sealed (started).
